Creating the Solution
During the creation of our blog we learnt many skills, these skills included:
Vlook ups – to hep lookup data.
IF statements – to help give us many outcomes.
Macro buttons – to help navigate through the solution also to help make prints outs, saved copies and exit buttons.
Forms Tools – such as option buttons and spinners to show are findings.
Goal Seek – help us understand how much we exactly needed to make evens or profit.
Most of these skills helped us create the solution that we wanted, like the Vlook ups helped us look up the person’s data and what food they wanted. Most of the information was shown by using tools and techniques such as spinners and option buttons. The IF statement helped us show the different prices for different course choices by each person.
The tools and techniques I used include:
Formulas – Vlook ups, IF statements
Spinners and option buttons
Macros
Goal Seek
The main skill acquired was furthering my spreadsheet skills, however other skills like communication skills helped me and my group understand one and other to help give us a good understanding of each other.
During working with my group to create the solution we all had a good understanding of what we had to do and my role as company worker and resource investigator helped the project work efficiently and quickly and also have all resources available to me and my group to help finish the project.
The issues that arouse was the fact that we could not choose which solution to use and how we were going to design it but after discussing with the group we all decided which was the best way to go we all agreed and created the final solution.

Blog Skills
How to upload images and data to the blog.
Using a template to design our blog.
Updating the blog as we go along the project.
All these skills have helped me create a blog which is easy to understand and straightforward to read.

Evaluation Task
Me and my group done a task where we had to pick one from a list of three evaluation tools, the three different types are1. Questionnaire.2. Observation.3. Interviews.
And what happened was that we found out that we all done all the same types of evaluation tools which was the questionnaire.
ICT skills developed and how the skills were achieved.
The skills that I developed while doing this task was my evaluation skills because our task was to do an evaluation at first I found it a bit difficult but in the end I think I enhanced my evaluation skills.
Tools and techniques.
The tools that we used was
1. Questionnaire.
2. Observation.
3. Interviews.
And the techniques that we used was getting together at a group and sharing our ideas and the reason why we picked them and we made necessary alteration to our work.
Skills acquired.
The skills acquired by doing by doing this task was my communication and listening skills because during the task the group and I had to get together and talk to each other on what we chose and make alterations to our work to make it so we can help each other by sharing what we put down that the others haven’t.
How I affected others.
Since I am the chairman of the group the way I affected others in my group was that I helped them along the way by guiding them through the task and my ideas that I contributed help to get to the end.
Issues and implications.
The issues that arose while completing the task was that we had to pick one evaluation tool each but when we got together had had a group discussion we found out that all of us done the questionnaire, so after we had the group discussion and shared our ideas we went back to our own computers and implemented the tools that we chose so each of us had one evaluation tool each.

Implementing the solution
Today we started implementing our solution to brief one. We have decided to use Microsoft Excel to do so. We will create a form and spreadsheet which can work together using formulas to find a desired output.
Eventually we hope to make a form which can tell us how much we should charge for tickets in relation to the cost of running the event. We will use such formulas as VLOOKUP AND IF functions. This will allow us to create a database which can be edited and update with new information.
Our group have so far created a attendee database with a list of names of people who will attend the event. This database will be used as reference for out final form and will tell us how much we should charge overall for the final ticket price

Skills That Will Help Us
In this task I looked at the brief and said all the skills that were needed to help us complete our brief.
One skill that we can use in helping us to create the brief will be Microsoft word skills, we used this skill in creating other assignments, we can use it to help create our blogs and also help us to create are reports. Another skill that we can use in creating are brief is using are knowledge of the World Wide Web. With this skill we are able to publish are blogs on the internet for the world to see, another aspect of this skill is that we were able to research the internet to help us understand how others create there own briefs. An additional skill that we can use in creating are brief is our excel skills we use this skill to help us create our database for this brief. We also can use our power point skills to help us create a feasibility study presentation of the current system; included in this presentation will be the problems and improvements of the current system. The next skill that we can use to help create our blog is using Microsoft project and our skills we have in this, the first skill will be creating our project management table for this we put all our projects in order of when it will be finishing. In Microsoft project we are also able to create Gantt chart and network diagrams these can help us understand when each part of the brief needs to be completed by.
ICT skills developed and how the skills were achieved.
The ICT skills that I developed by doing this task was my Microsoft word skills because the task required me to do a lot of typing and at first it wasn’t going well and in the end it made me better to structure and word the document well
Skills acquired.
The skills I acquired by doing this task was structuring the page into a well presented document it also helped me to word my document better so in the future I will be able to word my documents better and make less mistakes.
Issues and implications.
The issues that came up while doing this task was that the wording of the text was wrong so it did not make any sense to anyone, what I did was make a new document and read my old one and go along the lines of that one but reword it to make it better and readable.

Skills we have learn't before in other assignments
For one of our assignments we used a lot of PowerPoint presentations to show are findings. We also have created questionnaires and fully understand all aspects of creating one.
In another assignment we created data flow diagrams and identified there processes, from this we produced reports, which also one skill we have used, to show our finding. In addition to this we also learnt how to use excel and we created spreadsheets with charts and graphs.
For another assignment we looked at hardware of computers and how they work with this assignment we also created feasibility reports. We also used Microsoft Word thought the whole course and understand it thoroughly.
With all the skills listed I think that most of these skills can be used in creating our final brief in this assignment.

Questionnaire for canteen
Today we decided we wanted to start our research on functions and how they are carried out, so we went to our college’s kitchen to find out how they go about serving for functions in college. When we arrived at the canteen we found that the current manager Venda, was currently on holiday, and the pastoral manager was currently unavailable. We managed to talk to some of the canteen staff who managed to answer three of our ten questions.
We created these ten questions in order to aid us in our research into functions and how they are recorded and organised. Here are our ten questions
1. What kind of system do you use to make and take orders?
2. How do you go about making arrangements with events in the college?
3. How do you advertise your services?
4. How reliable is your current system?
5. Could you benefit from a computer based system?
6. How do you record the data from the clients using your services?
7. Who are your clients(student union, staff) using your service?
8. Do you save the data from pervious transaction?
9. Do you aim to make a profit or break even?
10. For an event do you provide clients with a big variety of food?
My role in creating these questions was also contrasting on one of my initial roles in the group. As the evaluator in the group, I evaluated the created questions and found that they were suitable for the task we have been set. Chris, as the chairman and finisher oversaw the operation and added the finishing touches to questions. Our shaper, Dean made sense of our questions as we all worked as our set roles as company workers to complete our questions.
We expanded on our questionnaire making skills, by finding relevant questions to ask for what we needed to know. However we found that the questionnaire we created was rather simple so the staff at the kitchen found it hard to fill in. Next time we will improve by making a better and improved questionnaire with open and closed questions.3

Blog 2: Project Manager
Our group has now got another member which has joined to our class recently, Dean Salisbury. We are going to change some roles around to make sure everyone in the group has a fair amount of responsibility within the group, and which reflects each of our personalities.
This lesson we have been using Microsoft Project in order to do task B, using project management techniques. We believe that our project can be organised well using this software, and if we use this plan as a guideline to do our work, it will help us in our organisation of the project.
On Microsoft project I have broken down each task which we have been set to do in to sub-headings and sub-sub-headings. This allows us to get a detailed look into what we are going to do in our tasks, and to add more specific information for each section.
Our project plan turned out to be well structured and organised. This will allow us to easily stay organised and keep on track of what we have to do and when we have to do it. I will also create another copy of this plan so that we can edit it if and when we have more information to input.

Blog 1 Roles research
Job roles research
Charles B Handy defines a team as “any collection of people who perceive themselves to be a group”, and me and my team agree with this, however we will be more than just a “collection of people”, we have so far have operated as an organised and mature group of people who all strive for the same task. We have done some research on team work, and the studies of R M Belbin and we have found out that a team can be more than just a few individuals accomplishing a task. It’s more organised and civilised than that simplicity of an explanation. R M Belbin found nine major roles in a team. These are labels given to each member of a team (sometimes more than one label per person) which define how they act and work in the work place. These include roles such as chairman and company workers. We have used these roles to try and help us with our project, by making ourselves more organised as a team.
We have decided to only use seven of these nine roles within our group, as we find the other two unnecessary and too advanced for our level of work. Here is a list and definition of the nine roles which R M Belbin has researched and defined.
Chairman – This is the role of the team leader or head. This persons role is important in the workplace as he is the one who makes all the big decisions, outlines the goals and generally organises the team
Shaper – Adds positive energy towards the team and keeps motivated. The shaper works best under pressure and likes to overcome the obstacles in their path
Plant – The plant is the person who solves difficult problems, and creates innovative and original ideas which is put forward to the team
Evaluator - This person is the strategist of the group, he also takes a big part in decision making and has generally good judgement when implanting his decisions
Resource Investigator – This person helps with material and researching. The resource investigator is the person who develops contacts with different companies or persons and helps bring in resources to the team. He also makes use of good opportunities.
Company worker – The company worker is the person who does a lot of practical work. They apply ideas and concepts and use these ideas to carry out their work. They are co-operative and they listen to other members.
Finisher – This person ensure that the group effort achieve the standard of which the group want it to. They help out with fixing problems at the end of the project and maintain a sense of urgency towards the deadline. The make sure they meet that deadline.
As you can see most if not all are essential to a fully functioning and competent team. So we have given 3 roles to each of our team members (Jacob Barron, Chris Collins and Muhsen Sayed Ali). As shown in the table we have given each member of our team a role according to what we feel our personalities are. After our research we figured out our team and felt that our positions in the teams were suited to our personalities.
